Orlando: Avoiding A Crash With A Careless (Dangerous) Lynx Transit Bus Driver

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (July 1, 2024). Recorded on Monday, July 1, 2024 at 6:18 PM. Westbound Raleigh Street at Bruton.

Fleet no. 118, Route 24, was running nearly 20 minutes late, having just started out when he should be nearly finished his run. I guess he was off in la-la land and just realized, "Oh, crap! I have to turn here." And proceeded to go from the right lane, across lane no. 1, into the left turn lane to make his turn.

As a long-time bus driver, who spent most of his career in Toronto before transferring to a PRIVATE bus company here in Orlando many years ago, the incompetence of Lynx drivers never ceases to amaze me.

They drive their buses like they drive their own cars in the 'hood. Or, more simply put, they drive like everyone else in this God-forsaken city. And the fact that they are driving a 40' or 60' bus doesn't even phase them. They just don't care. And neither does Lynx management or the politicians who oversee them.

Maybe the driver was mad because Orange County mayor Jerry "Lockdown Jerry" Demings failed to get his latest attempt to raise the sales tax by 15 per cent (from 6.5 cents to 7.5 cents) to give Lynx an even bigger slush fund on the ballot. Voted down by his own fellow Democrats at the Orange County commission.
