DOJ to offer Boeing plea agreement for fatal crashes; relatives of victims slam ‘sweetheart deal’

The Justice Department plans to offer Boeing a plea agreement to resolve a criminal charge related to two fatal 737 MAX crashes that killed 346 people.

However, victims’ relatives criticize the proposal as a “sweetheart deal” and urge a federal judge to reject it.

The department briefed the victims’ families about the settlement and gave Boeing until the end of the week to respond.

Boeing and the Justice Department declined to comment. Boeing, currently under scrutiny for safety issues, faces criticism from the National Transportation Safety Board and Congress. If Boeing accepts the plea, U.S, the USA Today has reported.
