From Ice Age Hunters to American Empires: A Lost History| History of America | Ep. 1

America’s history begins with the Ice Age when hunters from Siberia crossed into Alaska and Canada via a land bridge over the Bering Strait. For over ten thousand years, the Americas remained largely isolated. Then, during the Age of Exploration or the Age of Discovery, European powers began seeking new lands following the fall of Constantinople in 1453. An explorer named Christopher Columbus approached the Spanish sovereigns, King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella I, and obtained their permission to travel to Cipango (Japan) and Cathay (China). This journey ultimately led to the discovery of the previously unknown continents.
