Bristol, Connecticut --- The State of Connecticut OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL released body camera, dash cam, surveillance videos, 911 call, pictures and details about an officer Involved Shooting that killed 2 officers, the suspect and injured another officer.

According to police: It all started on October 12, 2022, sometime around 7:30 p.m., Nicholas Brutcher age 35 and his brother, Nathan Brutcher, left their parents’ house and went to Bleachers Bar located at 300 Middle Street, Bristol. Both had been drinking before they went to the bar. That night, the bar had an “open mic” forum and Nicholas Brutcher planned to do some stand-up comedy.
One of the bartenders working that night, told inspectors that Nicholas
and Nathan Brutcher arrived at approximately 7:00 p.m., and she served them one beer. She did not know what the other bartender, may have served them.
At one point, while he was sitting at the bar, another patron, whom the Bartender new
as Patron 1, came up to Nicholas Brutcher and put his arm around him. The Bartender saw Nicholas Brutcher elbow Patron 1 in the face/chest area. The Bartender told both to stop or she would call the police. Nicholas Brutcher and Patron 1 told her that they were going to take it outside. The Bartender followed Nicholas Brutcher and Patron 1 as they walked to the exit door.
In the vestibule by the front door, Nicholas Brutcher punched Patron 1 on the head from behind knocking him to the ground. They then continued fighting in the parking lot. Bartender 1 called the Bristol Police Department and reported the fight. When she went back into the bar, Bartender 1 saw Nathan Brutcher playing pool with others. Nathan Brutcher did not know that Nicholas Brutcher was in a fight. Once told, Nathan Brutcher left the bar and went into the parking lot.

At approximately 8:52 p.m., Officer Monica Finkle heard a call regarding a physical fight at Bleachers and advised Bristol Communications that she wouldrespond. Officer Harrison Pollock also responded to Bleachers and, upon arrival, bystanders
directed his attention to a white pickup truck leaving the parking lot. Officer Pollock reported that he intended to stop the vehicle.
Upon arrival at Bleachers, Officer Finkle went inside the bar and spoke with one of the parties in the altercation – Patron 1. Patron 1 stated that, because the other guy was drunk, he did not want to pursue criminal charges for the fight. Patron 1 declined medical attention and stated that he was not injured. Officer Finkle advised Sergeant Eric Wethered that the party at Bleachers did not wish to file a criminal complaint. Officer Finkle then went to the location of Bayberry Drive and Surrey Drive where Officer Pollock had stopped the white pickup truck.
At the location of the stop, Officer Finkle noted that Officer Teague Soucy-Field,
Sergeant Wethered, Officer Mark McGrane, and Officer Pollock were already on scene. The officers were with two males identified as Nicholas Brutcher and Nathan Brutcher. Both parties were highly agitated and making rude remarks to the officers on scene.

At approximately 10:32 p.m., Nicholas Brutcher made a 911 call to Bristol Communications. It is highly likely that Nicholas Brutcher was already outfitted in camouflage gear and armed with at least two weapons. The call was a ruse. Nicholas Brutcher falsely stated that his brother Nathan Brutcher was being aggressive and requested police assistance.
Immediately following the call, at approximately 10:38 p.m., Bristol communications dispatched officers to 310 Redstone Hill Road. Officers Alex Hamzy and Alec Iurato, and Sergeant Dustin DeMonte responded.
Prior to the arrival of the officers, Nicholas Brutcher likely turned on the garage exterior light, and leaned a shotgun against the side of the garage. He then concealed himself behind bushes in the front of the house next door. Nicholas Brutcher was armed with an AR-style rifle, and at least one handgun. He had multiple magazines of ammunition.

Upon their arrival, Officer Hamzy, Officer Iurato and Sergeant DeMonte walked up the driveway to 310 Redstone Hill Road.
Officer Iurato ordered Nathan Brutcher to show his hands and step out.
As Nathan Brutcher stepped out of the doorway, Nicholas Brutcher opened fire using his AR rifle striking all three officers and Nathan Brutcher. Nathan Brutcher retreated into the house.

Bracing himself against the police vehicle, Officer Iurato fired one shot, striking and killing Nicholas Brutcher. Detectives also calculated the distance from Officer Iurato’s shooting position near police vehicle #6 to Nicholas Brutcher’s body to be 78 feet.
