The most anticipated walk down the aisle of the year, aka The Royal Wedding, is quickly approaching. So here are 7 things you need to know about the royal wedding, from how to watch to how the couple is breaking tradition.

First of all, let’s talk about the date. As most of you know, the couple chose May 19 as their date and there was a special reason behind it. This date was selected so as to give the Duchess of Cambridge a chance to recover after the birth of her third child. Prince George and Princess Charlotte will also be attending as page boy and flower girl.

The couple chose to marry at Windsor Castle instead of Westminster Abbey, since Windsor Castle can sit around 800, while Westminster Abbey sits around 2200. The smaller venue affects the guest list, so the Obamas and Trumps won’t be attending. Kensington palace said in an official statement that “it has been decided that an official list of political leaders - both U.K. and international - is not required.” The guest list will expand outside the royal family to include commoners and leaders in the community.

The cake will also break tradition, As opposed to the 8-tier fruitcake that William and Kate had for their wedding back in 2011, Harry and Meghan have selected a “lemon and elderflower cake incorporating the bright flavors of spring...It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.”

Other traditions were continued, as the couple chose Barnard and Westwood to print and send out their wedding invitations. The soon-to-be-newlyweds chose for donations to charities to be made in their name, instead of gifts. The seven designated charities include those working for social change, the empowerment of women, conservation, hope for HIV sufferers and other causes the couple has supported.

All it is left to do is watch the ceremony, which will begin at noon local time, which is 7 am eastern and 4 am Pacific. The networks that will be broadcasting are ABC, CBS, NBC and E, to name a few.
