Weddings can be seriously expensive - but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials will cost about $45 million - 1,000 times the cost of the average U.S. wedding. The experts says the bulk of the royal costs will be spent on security - with Meghan's dress, the flowers, food and drinks coming in at nearly a million pounds and they have revealed exactly how they think this price tag will be broken down. Here's the lowdown:

43 million dollars spent on security alone and Kensington Palace is footing the bill. Where is that 43 million in security going? Extra security measures may include snipers, undercover police and military tech, such as a counter-drone system and much more. The security cost, however, is covered by British taxpayers. Food and drinks are going to cost about 686,000 dollars, the dress $430,000 - the bride is reportedly footing the bill. Wedding rings $8,600 made of gold kept in the royal vaults. Of course, the venue is completely free.
The big day, taking place in Windsor on May 19, will earn the couple a place on the list of the top ten most expensive weddings of all time - ahead of William and Kate's (estimated to have cost £20 million).

But, before you get too upset, luckily, the country will make up for it with a tourism spike, partly from the free marking for Britain as millions tune in to watch. The royal wedding is expected to provide a £500m boost to Britain’s economy thanks to tourism and merchandise. So yes, it still pays to be a royal.
