This video is on the campground we stayed at which was the 4 mile Creek Campground the creek was named 4 mile creek as it was four miles from Fort Niagara to the creek exactly the distance the canons could reach, so this was the area where the British landed prior to their attack on the French. Then we go into the Old Fort Niagara and complete a walk through. One of the pictures shows a kiln building where they heated the cannon balls red hot prior to loading them in the cannon, when they hit their target the target immediately started on fire. At the end of the video you see a mortar cannon which shot out a gun powder filled & fused bomb (like what we seen on Wile-e-Coyote cartoons as kids) they would estimate the distance, cut the fuse to the proper length for that distance, load the gun powder filled mortar ball into the mortar cannon light the mortar cannon, when the cannon went off it would light the fuse on the mortar ball, when the fuse burned down into the mortar ball it would explode spewing shrapnel everywhere killing or maiming most in the area. Crazy!
