27th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Devastation of Lies - 1 Timothy 1:9-11
* A.  Lying destroys trust in any relationship where it prevails
* B. The Law is written to punish these and other sins
* 1. What happens when a civil government instead of upholding God’s Law, commits to violating God’s Law?
* a. A curse falls upon that land
* b. The lawless tyrants take control and the righteous mourn
* 2. Restoration can only begin on the Path of repentance which will begin with God’s judgment on the wicked

II. A Message of Hope through the coming Judgment - Micah 5:2-3
* A. The Ruler born in Bethlehem will bring judgment
* 1. He will give Judah up to judgment in a terrible time
* a. Fivefold ways of judgment, war, famine, disease, natural calamities, financial collapse 
* b. God gives up the wicked to punishment - Romans 1:23-32
* 2. That judgment will continue “until” - establishing that there is a limit God has set upon His judgment 
* a. God’s judgment on nations is in this world
* b. God’s judgment on individuals is for all eternity
* B. The judgment will purify the righteous while it crushes the wicked - the birth pangs of Judah will issue in a remnant
* 1. The remnant are Jesus’ brethren - Mark 3:20-21, 31-35
* 2. Shall return to Israel - Romans 9:6-8; 11:17-24
* C. Jesus The Good Shepherd - Micah 5:4
* 1. The Good Shepherd protects His sheep 
* 2. He provides for them to lie down in green pastures
