26.06.2024 - Did someone lose a train? (2W35 - 1159 Whitby to Newcastle)

'EVERY' train was logged in and out of the Signal Box's log book, when it entered or left the block section of track operated by that Signal Box, which doesn't seem to be the case with this particular train.
This train was filmed running towards Darlington, past the North East end of Teesside International Airport's main runway.
The train's headcode was still booked as a class 2 train ("2W35"), meaning it should have been in service as a "Local Passenger", NOT as an out-of-service train of "Empty Coaching Stock", which would be "5W35".
I hope there were no passengers on-board heading for Hartlepool or Sunderland. They'd have certainly got a shock on passing through Darlington and Durham, as with no record, who's to say it it stopped anywhere at all, along the ECML ("East Coast Main Line").

Featuring:
1516 - 2W35 - 1159 Whitby to Newcastle (156472 and 158848).

There may be other websites that may have a record of this particular train, but I always use railcam.uk and realtimetrains.co.uk, both of which use information provided by Network Rail and can generally be depended on totally, as they are 'very rarely' wrong.
I fully recommend and thank them both.
