KENYATTA HOSPITAL OVERWHELMED WITH INJURED PROTESTERS

Young Kenyans’ bravery in the face of police oppression has paid off: President Ruto backed down (for now!) over tax hikes.

But some paid a terrible price for their bravery - with 22 people killed in a mass protest that saw officers open fire with live rounds. And Nairobi’s main hospital is now swamped with casualties from the violence meted out on Tuesday, with some 165 people receiving treatment for their injuries.

Unconfirmed social-media reports suggest the death and injury counts could be even higher still. Kenya’s Human Rights Commission has already said it’s launching an enquiry.

Should Ruto step down over this totally unnecessary loss of life?
