NATO Will Offer Ukraine ‘Bridge’ to Membership

At its upcoming 75th anniversary summit in Washington, NATO will offer Ukraine a new headquarters to manage military assistance, signaling the alliance’s long-term commitment to Ukraine’s security and serving as a “bridge” to eventual membership.

President Volodymyr Zelensky had hoped for membership negotiations, but NATO will instead announce the establishment of a mission in Germany to coordinate aid for Ukraine.

This move aims to demonstrate strong allied support to both Kyiv and Moscow, regardless of potential political changes, such as a Trump presidency.

The Biden administration and NATO officials developed this plan to provide tangible support to Ukraine while asserting that now is not the right time for NATO membership due to the ongoing war and necessary reforms in Ukraine.

This mission is expected to streamline the efforts of countries currently providing military aid and training to Ukraine and facilitate longer-term security agreements, DNYUZ has reported.
