Quatermass And The Pit (1967)
Directed by Roy Ward Baker. The story begins when construction workers in London unearth a mysterious, ancient object buried in the ground, initially thought to be an unexploded World War II bomb. As scientists investigate, led by Professor Bernard Quatermass (Andrew Keir), they discover that the object is actually an alien spacecraft that has been buried for millions of years.
