Legendary innovator and founder of Latham Marine, Bobby Latham, explains the Apache 47’s most recent attempt toward a world speed record!

On June 8, 2024, Ocean Cup held its Gateway Marathon event featuring 6 teams racing from Palm Beach, Fl to West End, Bahamas and back. The famous Apache 47's featured Lorne Leibel as the driver, Bobby Latham at throttles, and Yavuz Sivri as navigator.

The Apache 47' ran into some trouble though, as they lost a crash box while approaching West End, Bahamas. Unfortunately, this resulted in the Apache having to turn around and not finish the race. As Bobby says it best, "That's racing."
