Episode 2254: Choosing God Over the World - Nightly Episode
O my God, at the end of this day I thank You most heartily for all the graces I have received from You. I am sorry that I have not made better use of them. I am sorry for all the sins I have committed against You. Forgive me, O my God, and graciously protect me this night. Blessed Virgin Mary, my dear heavenly mother, take me under your protection. St. Joseph, my dear Guardian Angel, and all you saints in heaven, pray for me. Sweet Jesus, have pity on all poor sinners, and save them from hell. Have mercy on the suffering souls in purgatory. Amen”
Choosing God Over the World
Tonight, we will explore the call to wholehearted devotion to God, guided by the insightful words of spiritual giants and the eternal truth of scripture. Join us as we reflect on the importance of sincere service to God, the constancy of His love, and the transformative power of prayer.
"To pretend to serve God and the world is the same as to imagine that we can be both proud and humble at the same time. A vain dream!"
This powerful statement confronts us with a stark truth about the nature of our devotion. In traditional Catholic spirituality, the call to serve God is absolute and undivided. Attempting to split our loyalties between God and worldly pursuits is futile and self-deceptive. Just as pride and humility cannot coexist, neither can a genuine commitment to God be reconciled with the pursuit of worldly approval and material gain. This quote challenges us to examine our priorities and to strive for a single-hearted dedication to God.
Psalm 42:8:
"By day the Lord commands His steadfast love; and at night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life." This beautiful verse from the Psalms assures us of God's constant and unwavering love. Whether it is day or night, God's love remains steadfast, guiding and comforting us. The imagery of God's song being with us at night highlights the intimacy of our relationship with Him, especially through prayer. This verse encourages us to embrace prayer as a continuous dialogue with God, a means of experiencing His love and presence in every moment of our lives.
Conclusion:
As we conclude tonoight's episode, let us take to heart the call to undivided devotion to God. The wisdom of our spiritual heritage reminds us that attempting to serve both God and the world is a futile endeavor. Instead, let us embrace the constancy of God's love, as beautifully expressed in Psalm 42:8, and make prayer the cornerstone of our daily lives. By committing ourselves wholly to God and nurturing our relationship with Him through continuous prayer, we can experience the fullness of His love and guidance. Thank you for joining us on this journey of faith and reflection. Until next time, may God bless you abundantly and draw you ever closer to His heart.
