At Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base in Tarlac, Philippines, on March 31, 2022, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and US military members engage in a combined arms live-fire exercise as part of Balikatan 22.

Every year, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States military participate in an exercise called Balikatan, which aims to improve the mutual trust, cooperation, interoperability, and capabilities that have been developed over many years of shared experiences. A long-standing bilateral activity between the Philippines and the United States, "balikatan" is Tagalog for "shoulder-to-shoulder" and highlights the strong bond between the two nations. BK22 marks the 37th iteration of the exercise and the 75th anniversary of security cooperation between the United States and the Philippines. (Video courtesy of Sgt. Josue Marquez of the USMC)
