Lack of transparency still clouds billions in opioid settlement money going to states

(SOA) — Transparency concerns continue over how billions of dollars in opioid settlement money are being spent in many states across the country.

It’s been three years since a nationwide settlement was reached with opioid manufacturers and distributors, and Spotlight on America found many states still are not publicly reporting how the money they are getting is being used. That’s left critics frustrated at the lack of accountability and unable to measure whether it’s actually making a difference in the opioid epidemic.
