1 Corinthians 12:10 NLT
He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and to another the ability to prophesy. HE GIVES SOMEONE ELSE THE ABILITY TO KNOW WHETHER IT IS REALLY THE SPIRIT OF GOD OR ANOTHER SPIRIT THAT IS SPEAKING. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, and another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

“'In the simplest terms, discernment is wisdom. The dictionary defines discernment as, 'the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure; skill in discerning; an act of perceiving or discerning something.'”

We can PRAY for DISCERNMENT!
Philippeans 1:9-11
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

We can SEEK to have DISCERNMENT!
– Seek Discernment & You Will Discover The Knowledge of God
Proverbs 2:3-5
“For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God."

Solomon Asked God For A Discerning Heart
1 Kings 3:9-12
“So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?” The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this.  So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.”

The GIFT allows us not to be FOOLED by the way things LOOK
We can't judge righty by looking at what we see, but by righteous judgment from God.

John 7:24
“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

.5 Between RIGHT and WRONG
King Solomon

1. Between LIES and TRUTH
Hosea 14:9
"Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them."

2. Between GOOD and EVIL
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that every Christian's responsibility is to be wise: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.

Example: good or evil motives, good or evil character, good or evil acts

Also, along those lines...
3. Between Angels and Demons

4. Holy Spirit/Jesus/Abba OR human spirit OR demon

**BE AWARE! If we have an AREA of life where we have wounding, disappointment, pain, suffering, or trauma, we may not be discerning accurately.

We DISCERN in our SENSES
1. see
2. hear
3. taste
4. feel/sense
5. smell

So, we are DISCERNING something is off. This is what many people do...
THEY HIT THE OVERRIDE BUTTON! Unfortunately, this TURNS OFF the light of TRUTH that God sheds on circumstances and people.
........................….................................................................
Sensing/feeling, seeing, hearing, smelling or tasting something is “off”
1. STOP! Do not proceed
2. Turn to Jesus, Abba, & Holy Spirit
3. Ask for CONFIRMATION
4. Go to a FEW for Godly counsel (choosing people who make wise choices)

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 ESV
Abominable Practices
“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
