HEALING (feat. "Suddenly" & Healer)

Healer (2014) was one of the first k-dramas I watched, and it's still one of my favorites. I liked the soundtrack well enough, but it didn't have an anthem song for me--a song that grabbed my attention on its own and encapsulated my emotional experience.

When I recently watched City Hunter (2011) a good show in its own right with several parallels to Healer, Kim Bo Kyung's "Suddenly" resonated strongly with me, and I saw scenes of Healer in my mind's eye.

I know separating OSTs from their dramas may be abhorrent to some folks (mea culpa), but I couldn't resist. I wanted a video for Healer and this struck me as the perfect imperfect match.

This is the second version I came up with, using the second chorus as a process of searching. It aligns with the theme of the song better, demonstrating Chae Young-shin's earnest longing and tenacity. In a belated epiphany, I realized it was far more potent to show Chae Young-shin going to great lengths to search for Seo Jung-hoo than to show her discovering he is Healer. It also dovetails better with the final sequence, and makes Jung-hoo's attempt to push her out all the more poignant.

...And, on a purely visual level...there were just too many hands in the original. ;)
