Cyber Attack On Car Dealers impacts is crushing the car business.. FBI Launches Investigation After 15,000 Dealerships Across the US Are Cyberattacked

A significant amount of car dealerships across the US are being impacted by a large-scale cyberattack, resulting in operational disruptions.

The cyberattack, which began yesterday and is still ongoing, impacted popular software provider CDK Global, which provides over 15,000 dealerships in the United States with software to manage vehicle acquisitions, payroll, sales, financing, insuring, repairs, and maintenance. CDK said they chose to shut down all systems on Wednesday to mitigate further risk as a precaution.

Lisa Finney, a spokeswoman for the company, said, “We are actively investigating a cyber incident. With the work done so far, our core Dealer Management Systems and Digital Retailing solutions have been restored. We are continuing to conduct extensive tests on all other applications, and we will provide updates as we bring those applications back online. Our first priority is always the security of our customers, and our actions reflect our obligation to them as a trusted partner.”

Following this statement, 2 hours later, the company faced another attack. The FBI is investigating, and it is currently unknown who or what group is behind the cyberattack.

Despite saying some services are online, various Reddit pages catered to employees of car dealerships are still reporting issues. Many Redditors share PDF templates for manual work orders; others indicate they can't work with the software down.
