The Hardest Story to Tell | April 25, 1979

This is the hardest video I’ve ever had to make. When I started this project over a year ago, I had hopes of getting answers to 45 year old questions. What was he thinking and feeling in all these images I’m seeing and hearing on my screen?
And thanks to this letter, and some very generous people who chose to be a part of this project, I got those answers. But there was one question I accepted I would never have answered - What was he thinking & feeling at 10:38 am April 25th, 1979? And then the Universe stepped in...
A total stranger and subscriber messaged me. He explained he remembered the accident as a child, and that his father was involved in the investigation from the Air Force side. I asked if we might speak, and he put us in touch.
Retired Major George Knirsch, USAF agreed to sit down with me and share his memories of the incident and investigation, and in the process he answered my one question. This is that conversation, thanks for joining me on this journey.
My heartfelt gratitude to Major Knirsch for telling his story, and Stephanie Usery, Video Archivist KMOV. April 25, 1979 video footage supplied and used with full permissions KMOV TV, St. Louis, Mo.
