John the Baptist, according to Jesus in Luke 7:28, was the greatest Prophet. Why? Out of all the great prophets in the past: Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, why was John the Baptist the greatest. First, he made way for the Lamb of God, who brought Salvation to the whole of the Human race. Secondly, John the Baptist new how to get his ego, and self-will out of the way. He was the Premier Prophet of the nation of Israel in his day. He had the top ministry. All Israel came to the wilderness to hear him. Yet, when it was time to make way for Christ Jesus, John got out of the way. He said, "He must increase, but I must Decrease." John 3:30. He allowed God to have His will and purpose come first. He, purposely, allowed All Glory to go to Jesus, which resulted in the World being up-ended, so Salvation could come to all humanity. Thus, the Greatest Prophet.
