Tesla Model Y tops list of most American-made cars

Tesla Model Y has once again topped the list of most American-made cars.

This year, Tesla retains the top position with Model Y

and has three vehicles in the top 10,

though it lost its clean sweep of the top four positions.

Thanks to Tesla’s vertical integration approach,

which involves making many of its parts in-house and in the United States,

the automaker consistently ranks high among those producing the most “American-made” vehicles.

Cars.com tracks which automakers and models are the most “American-made”

with its annual American-Made Index, or AMI.

year, Tesla dominated the top four spots with Model Y, Model 3, Model X, and Model S.

The 2024 list shows Tesla Model Y at the top,

followed by Honda Passport and Volkswagen ID.4.

Tesla Model S and Model X also made the top 10.

However, the Model 3 dropped to number 21

due to changes in workforce and domestic parts content.

Despite the drop, Tesla still has four vehicles on this year’s Index

and remains the only domestic automaker in the top 10.

Interestingly, the Tesla Cybertruck did not make the list,

and the Volkswagen ID.4 climbed to number three.
