This one is about as old as dirt! And if not that old at least the early 1800's. It has been done with many variations and various lyrics. This one can put the corn in corny! Got to love it! Turkey in the straw, haw, haw, haw...

Speaking of 'in the straw' (no pun intended)...there was this girl in Wisconsin she really like to roll around in straw with me and...Oops! forgot this was a kid's show. I mean, we used to like to stroll along the waterside hand in hand when the Harvest Moon shone bright. (You adults can go figure what we did in the straw! Haw haw haw!) Mmmm....I still like sody pop!

Lyrics:
As I was a-goin' down a hot dusty road
With a tired team and a heavy load
I cracked my whip and the leader sprung
I says day-day in the wagon tongue.

Turkey in the straw, haw, haw, haw
Turkey in the hay, hay, hay, hay
Roll 'em up and pad 'em down anyway at all,
Play ya a little tune called 'Turkey in the Straw'

I come to the river but I couldn't get across
So I paid five dollars for a blind ole hoss
Well, he wouldn't go forward and he couldn't stand still
So he went up and down like an old sawmill

Went out to milk but I didn't know how
I milked the goat instead of the cow
A monkey sittin' on a pile of straw
A-winkin' at his mother-in-law

I jump in the seat and give a little yell
The horses ran away bust the wagon all to hell
It's sugar in the gourd and honey in horn
Never been so happy since the day I was born
