UFC fighter Jeff Monson converts to Islam

Veteran UFC fighter Jeff Monson has converted to Islam, during an Eid al-Adha celebration in Moscow. Video footage captured on Wednesday shows Monson reciting the shahada, the declaration of faith in Allah and the Prophet Muhammad, before being congratulated by his fellow attendees.

Monson’s conversion follows a long and successful career not just in MMA, but also in politics. After relocating to Russia in 2013 and becoming a citizen, Monson has been actively involved in Russian politics, holding several elected roles since 2018
