Say hello to the Toyota GR Corolla!

Mat has flown over to Japan to get his hands on the hot edition of Toyota’s family-friendly hatchback, and he’s about to find out what’s different to the standard car.

When it comes to the design, there are several exterior changes. Around the back, there’s an all-new rear bumper as well as three exhaust tips! Along the side, there are more vents to help airflow, while some side skirts are also added. Up front, there are vents on the bonnet to help air flow & cooling, while there’s also a much larger, more aggressive front bumper and grille.

Step inside and there are a handful of changes, including red stitching throughout, and part-Alcantara, part-leather seats. There are also aluminium pedals, bespoke GR dials, and of course, there’s a button for the switchable 4WD system too.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the same 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo edition as in the GR Yaris. However, it’s been improved for the Corolla and comes with new pistons, so in this edition, it now produces 304hp and 370Nm!

But this isn’t all - Mat’s also got his hands on the special Morizo edition, which is limited to just 70 units! This comes with a handful of additional upgrades over the regular GR Corolla, including a special Matt paint and wider alloys. The back seats have also been stripped out and replaced by a big brace bar, while a few other elements have been stripped out to reduce the weight by 30kg.

So will Mat be a fan of the GR Corolla? And more importantly, will he think it’s about time Toyota released the car in the UK?! You’ll need to keep watching this video to see for yourself!
