Opsin/ST6 - Thermal Target Impact Testing (Body Warmers)

This was a test to see if the chemical body warmers would remain stuck to the back of the steel target when the target is taking pistol and rifle caliber impacts. I then evaluated the target the next morning to see if the impacts had affected the ability of the warmers to heat the target. Ambient for the impact testing was about 80F, humid, bright sunlight. Ambient for the evaluation the next morning about about 60F, extremely humid, cloudy with good NV conditions.

The impact test was successful - none of the warmers were dislodged, even under rapid fire, and remained operational throughout the night.

However, another issue presented itself. You'll notice that the bullet strikes created "cool" dots on the target. Apparently, the lead and debris left behind by a bullet strike block thermal emissions. This leads to the target's thermal silhouette being disrupted. This may be a contributing factor to previous chemical warmer tests, as they were likely done on targets that were already covered with numerous bullet strikes.
