This book will introduce you to a man almost no one has heard of. But he was famous for being one of New England's first American born organ makers and a well-respected citizen of Newburyport, Massachusetts. A few of the early organ makers during the time of Joseph Alley became well-known and written about, but not Joseph Alley. He was abandoned by history books. When I set out to write this biography, I was surprised at how little information there was regarding Joseph Alley. I could find no books or complete writings, everything was fragmented in church articles, newspaper articles, and small references. The purpose of this book is to correct that injustice.
