Strong winds and hot temperatures on Monday hindered efforts to contain the Post Fire, a rapidly growing wildfire near Lebec in northern Los Angeles County.

The fire began near Gorman on Saturday afternoon and had charred 15,610 acres by Monday, with only 8% containment.

The blaze damaged several vehicles, including a charred car in a McDonald’s parking lot and others at a nearby auto body shop.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Chief Kenichi Haskett cited strong winds with gusts over 50 mph as a significant challenge, spreading embers over a mile away, KTLA has reported.
