The head of the German Stock Exchange, Theodor Weimer, caused a stir with an angry speech. In it, he dismantled the government, Habeck and the German economy.

"I have now had my 18th meeting with our Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs Habeck. And I can tell you, it is a sheer catastrophe." Devastating words from Theodor Weimer, head of the German Stock Exchange. At an event organized by the Bavarian Economic Advisory Council in the Munich "Bayerischer Hof" hotel on May 21, he sharply criticized the current situation in Germany.

"I don't want to spoil your evening today. But one thing is clear: our reputation in the world has never been as bad as it is now. Never." Through his work, Weimer knows first-hand how international investors think of Germany.

Catastrophic development feared for Germany
"We no longer know how to read you in Germany. The discussions with investors are fatalistic in nature. The investors say that if you carry on like this, we will avoid you even more, we will stay even further away from Germany. The truth is that international investors only invest in Germany opportunistically because they say you are so cheap. We have become a junk shop.”

Looking to the future, Weimer said: “Economically speaking, we are on the way to becoming a developing country.”

German entrepreneurs should no longer stare at the snake in Berlin like a rabbit until it is eaten, but German entrepreneurs should once again make their own decisions independently and without influence from the government, said Weimer.

The speech took place in April 2024, but was only recently published.
