Emperor fish, like many marine species, reproduce through a fascinating process that involves external fertilization. The female emperor fish releases her eggs into the water, usually in large quantities to increase the chances of survival. Simultaneously, the male releases his sperm into the same area, allowing fertilization to occur outside their bodies in the open water.

Once fertilized, the eggs drift with the currents, gradually developing into larvae. These larvae are planktonic, meaning they float freely and are carried by ocean currents.
