A Red Book-listed humpback whale entangled in fishing nets was spotted by tourists in the Barents Sea on June 5th. The whale was wounded and could not fully open its mouth, which threatened him with death. The tourists named the whale Stanislav.

The search for the whale took almost a week, only on June 11 it became known that it had been found alive. After this, specialists began the rescue operation. After a two-hour chase and several unsuccessful attempts, rescuers managed to throw a hook with a knife onto a rope that was squeezing the animal’s neck and mouth.
