Tragic events occurred in the Indian state of Sikkim.
Heavy monsoon rains lasted non-stop for several days.
It is worth noting, that in the Mangan area in northern Sikkim from June 1 to 14, 333 mm fell, according to the Meteorological Department of India (IMD), this is about 90 percent more than the usual figure of 174.8 mm. And 240 mm fell in just 48 hours.

According to state authorities, flood waters from the Tista River washed off roads and bridges, causing serious damage and disrupting traffic. As a result of the elements, various areas of the state, including Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, were affected. The most affected were the areas of Lachen, Lachung and Chungtang, where the rains led to the formation of many landslides that blocked roads and destroyed bridges. Nearly 100 houses were destroyed, and agricultural land and pastures were flooded. In the Sinfok River area, Khola College left the coast, washing off the suspension bridge and destroying many houses.
As a result of the flood and landslides, at least 6 people died.

2,400 tourists were blocked in various parts of Sikkim.
Many of them arrived in the region to enjoy its natural beauty but were captured by the elements. The state government said that tourists are safe and are now considering options for their evacuation, including « airborne transport ».

A large number of people were evacuated to safe places. Many families have lost their homes and property. Due to the fact that many roads and bridges were destroyed, delivery of assistance and rescue operations became more difficult.

The Sikkim authorities are engaged in clearing the rubble and restoring communication. "The damage is serious, so it will take time, but we seek to reconnect within a week", — said a local official.
The Meteorological Department of India predicts ongoing state rains, which indicates the persistence of problems in the coming days.
In India, extreme weather events are already taking place almost simultaneously in all regions of the country. Landslides and floods in some areas coincide with record summer temperatures in other parts of the country. A similar trend is observed throughout the world, but only with the difference that in some countries it has not reached such a scale as in India. Everyone is now wondering why various weather anomalies are occurring in his region, which were not there before and how to stop the rapid growth of climate disasters. We recommend watching the international forum “Global Crisis. The Responsibility”. It provided comprehensive answers to these questions.
