The New Zealand Free Speech Union’s Speaker Series continues to impress. Following on from the tremendous Graham Linehan, once again they hosted a wonderful international visitor in Toby Young.

Author, Journalist, Education Activist, Founder of the Free Speech Union which has spawned chapters across the Anglosphere.

Erudite and eloquent, Young enthralled the audience for more than an hour in a speech and subsequent Q&A covering the subject of Free Speech from the macrocosm of broad social trends across the West down to the microcosm of strategies and tactics to achieve Free Speech objectives. The CEO of the NZ FSU chapter Jonathan Ayling joined in and the two of them bounced off of one another. It was electrifying, New Zealand is seldom blessed with oratory of this calibre.

Young has several more speaking engagements around New Zealand and I’m tempted to fly to one of the centres to catch him and Ayling again in concert. They really were Oxford Union, PMQs level great. I’d strongly encourage the FSU in the reciprocate with an invitation to host NZ’s Jonathan Ayling to tour the UK with Young so many more people can see them perform together.

I don't know if Toby Young is also performing across the Tasman at the invitation of Australian FSU but if he is, I strongly encourage everyone interested in this subject to get along, and for the Aussies to invite Ayling along too.
