We speak to Sgt Oliver Sabatino. He started his career as a national serviceman in Walvisbay before moving to the School of Infantry where he volunteered for 32 Battalion. Once there, he passed the 32 Bn Selection, then joined the companies taking part in Hooper, Excite and Displace. Oliver was also involved in the Battle of Tumpo 1 as a platoon commander in Echo company. At Tumpo, the SADF experienced the heaviest enemy bombardment of the war.
