The story follows young Jim Hawkins, a 13-year-old boy who runs a seaside tavern and inn with his mother. When Billy Bones, a former pirate, arrives at the inn, he warns Jim to be cautious of his associates, particularly a one-legged man named Long John Silver. After Billy Bones dies, Jim finds a map that supposedly leads to the buried treasure of the infamous pirate Captain Flint.

As Jim sets sail for Treasure Island with a group of sailors, he becomes torn between his loyalty to his benefactors and his growing affection for Long John Silver, who is secretly planning to mutiny. The group faces numerous challenges and dangers as they navigate the island, including encounters with the mutinous pirates and the loyal British sailors.
