Staying true to the apostles teachings!

The birthday of the church falls on June 16 this year, coinciding with the Day of Pentecost or the Feast of Firstfruits. The latter name is unfamiliar to many Christians, particularly Pentecostals, who may not realize that Pentecost is one of God's annual Sabbaths or "appointed times" given in Leviticus 23.

These "appointed times" are deeper than the common Christian understanding of Pentecost merely as the birthday of the church or the genesis of speaking in tongues. Most Christians today observe Sunday as a day of rest and worship, yet there is no biblical basis for sanctifying Sunday as holy. Only God can determine which day is holy. God has never declared Sunday holy, only man.

You must observe the Sabbath, rather than doing anything you please on my holy day.

You must look forward to the Sabbath and treat the Lord’s holy day with respect.

You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities, and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals.

Isaiah 58:13
