HUNT FOR HISTORY: Metal Detecting Hungary

Hungarian metal detectorists & historians race against time in search of lost treasures essential to understanding medieval Europe. Finding gold coins and rings and other amazing things, our historians on this expedition, Bernát Rácz and István Pánya take us into the dirt where history still resides. Our hunt includes:
- The history of the Mongol invasions, which ravaged this area of Hungary
- Arial archeology (using drones)
- Reading the clues on the ground
- A survey of our most unique treasures

Researchers in Hungary are in a race against destructive farming and illegal looting to preserve Hungary’s proud heritage. Battered and devastated by multiple invasion forces from the Mongols to the Ottomans, modern Hungarians are still in the process of identifying and preserving their past. Done in close coordination with the Katona József Museum of Kecskemét, Papyrus Pundit brings you into invisible archeological sites, the killing fields of the last millennium, and the beautiful Hungarian plain.
