EPA Rules Could Cause Blackouts for Millions

A recent study commissioned by North Dakota’s state government predicts that President Joe Biden’s stringent climate regulations aimed at fossil-fuel-fired power plants will cause significant instability in the electric grid, potentially resulting in widespread blackouts affecting millions of Americans.

Conducted by Always On Energy Research in May, the study concludes that the Environmental Protection Agency’s new regulations, which mandate the retirement of coal power generation units, are not feasible with current technology.

The study anticipates that intermittent renewable energy sources like wind and solar will replace the retired coal generators, leading to unreliable grid conditions.

These concerns mirror warnings previously raised by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, regional grid operators, and major power utility companies, the Washington Free Beacon has reported.
