Walt Disney's Gala Day at Disneyland (1960)

Gala Day at Disneyland is a theatrical featurette cut together from color footage of the TV special Disneyland '59. It's an extremely edited and truncated version of this program. It features what's known as the Second Grand Opening of Disneyland and includes the opening of the Monorail, the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarines, and the Matterhorn Bobsleds. This was the first major expansion of the park and Walt wanted to make sure it was captured for posterity. Of special note is you see then sitting Vice President of the United States Richard Nixon cutting the ribbon on the Monorail in full color.

This featurette debuted with Walt Disney's Toby Tyler and some of the footage was later cut into Walt's TV show as stock footage of the park.
