Acts - Chapter 4 Summary:

Acts chapter 4 describes the aftermath of Peter and John's healing of the lame man and their bold proclamation of the gospel despite opposition. Peter and John are arrested by the religious leaders, including the Sadducees, who are disturbed by their teaching about the resurrection of Jesus. They are brought before the Sanhedrin, where Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, boldly defends their actions, declaring that the man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ, whom they crucified and whom God raised from the dead. The leaders are astonished by their courage but, unable to deny the miraculous healing, they warn them to stop speaking in Jesus' name. Peter and John refuse, stating they must obey God rather than human authorities. After being released, they return to the other believers and pray for boldness to continue proclaiming the gospel. The chapter concludes with a description of the early Christian community's unity, generosity, and the apostles' powerful witness to the resurrection of Jesus, resulting in great grace upon them all.
