Body Camera of Nygil Cullins Restaurant Fatal Shooting Released. May 18, 2022 Atlanta Police

The Atlanta Police Deartment released Body Worn Camera Footage, 911 call and Camera Surveillance Footage Related to the May 18th, 2022, Officer Involved Shooting at 3101 Piedmont Road.

At around 7:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse restaurant regarding an unruly patron later identified as 22-year-old Nygil Cullins who was armed with a handgun.
Officers encountered the suspect inside the business and attempted to escort him out. The suspect was not cooperative and the encounter escalated to a physical altercation. An officer deployed his taser. However, the taser was not effective Police said.

The suspect began heading toward the door of the business when he was tackled by a security guard. At that point, the suspect produced his firearm and fired one round, striking the security guard. This is when an Officer Involved Shooting occurred, fatally striking the suspect. The security guard was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Investigators said Cullins was a former employee of the restaurant.
Cullins’ parents said he was suffering from a mental crisis at the time of the incident and called the police for help prior to the incident but when police arrived 2 hours later Cullins had already left for the restaurant.
