French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Tuesday that he would not resign regardless of the outcome of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He called the election following a strong performance by the far-right National Rally in the European election, which has increased pressure on his administration.

In an interview with Le Figaro Magazine, Macron emphasized that the National Rally does not determine the Constitution or the president’s role.

He dismissed rumors of his potential resignation and announced his active participation in the campaign.

Macron cautioned against assuming the National Rally’s European election success would repeat in the parliamentary election due to the different voting system.

The first round of the parliamentary election is scheduled for June 30, with a second round on July 7. Macron plans to launch his campaign with a press conference on Wednesday, Politico has reported.
