This Will BREAK BONES - Real World Self Defense

The hammer fist is a great self defense shot. Part of the beauty of the hammer fist is that it’s a pure gross motor skill. Sure there are some finer points to making it work to perfection but it’s a caveman simple fight move. In this video former Green Beret Jim “Smokey” West shows you how to transition from his two blocking defense (which is a painful move on its own) into its most natural follow up shot, the hammer fist.

This move is so practical in a street fight because it assumes you are caught off guard and have to react quickly to an incoming strike. The two block defense is so simple as well. And the follow up hammer shot does not require precision. It can land anywhere from the top of the head to the nose, the collar bone (you can easily break this one if done right) or the chest. The point is to quickly show an attacker that he should be more concerned about his safety than whatever he wanted from you. It’s critical in any self defense situation or street fight to level the psychological playing field. Better yet, take the psychological advantage by making the attacker concerned about his own well-being. Remember attackers try to pick easy targets, and they think they will win. When you show them they are wrong and inflict pain and destruction you flip the script on them. Once this occurs you have the upper hand.
