Episode #10 - Prayer Warriors Ready for Battle

I had lunch with Pastor Will Torres of Proclaim Church [ https://proclaimchurch.org/ ] and he said a very POWERFUL comment. I am paraphrasing but it was something about prayer being the engine and fuel of the church. This is so true.

Consulting for churches has taught us something truly powerful; praying churches are usually stronger churches. Did you know that there are churches where prayer is not something that receives much attention? This is just my suggestion but, if you are part of a church that does not encourage its members to pray, you should approach the leadership with a request to start a prayer circle and/or a prayer ministry. If this request is not met with enthusiasm by the church’s leadership (pastors, leaders and elders), perhaps you should start looking for another church. Again, that is just my suggestion. You can act on it or pass. But before you do, let’s look at the importance and effectiveness of prayer.

Jabez prayed for strength, prosperity and protection, and God granted his request (I Chronicles‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/1ch.4.10.NKJV).

Hezekiah prayed for courage and deliverance, and God granted his request (‭‭II Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭15‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/2ki.19.15-19.NKJV)

Solomon asked for wisdom and discernment and God granted him his request (I Kings‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/1ki.3.5-14.NKJV).

Jesus prayed for unity for all believers (‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.17.20-26.NKJV).

Jesus prayed for strength in His obedience and surrender to His Father (Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭36‬-‭44‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.26.36-44.NKJV).

Daniel prayed for forgiveness (Daniel‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/dan.9.3-19.NKJV).

Jesus knew the power of prayer and taught us how to pray (Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.6.5-13.NKJV).

A church that understands the power of prayer will encourage its members and partners to pray. The same is true in the Christian household and in Christian families. A household that prays together is usually far stronger than a household where family members pray separately. Even then, a household where everyone prays, even if it is separately, is stronger than a household where no one prays. #PrayerMatters
