God of War Trailer (2005)

The first God of War game was released in 2005. The hack-and-slash action game, set in ancient Greece, stars Kratos, a vengeful Spartan general.
Why was Kratos so enraged, you might wonder? Because Kratos was duped into slaying his own wife and children during a village raid after being granted great power by Ares, the Greek god of war. Their ashes were subsequently linked to his skin, giving him the ashy white coloration he's known for — as well as his "Ghost of Sparta" moniker.
During the first game, Kratos must complete a number of challenges in order to get the ability to confront Ares himself. Kratos eventually kills Ares and takes up the deceased god's title, becoming the new god of war.
