Ninety states headed to Ukraine peace summit but Russia absent

Ninety nations worldwide are set to participate in a conference convened to seek a sustainable path to peace in Ukraine, according to Switzerland.

The event, scheduled for June 15-16, aims to address the conflict that began nearly 28 months ago with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Notably, Russia will be absent from the conference, although Switzerland is hosting it at Kyiv’s request. Swiss President Viola Amherd emphasized the goal of reaching a consensus on ending the war.

Russia’s exclusion comes as it signaled disinterest in participation, with Switzerland citing this as the reason for the non-invitation, Al-Jazeera has reported.
