Microsoft has announced the latest game in the Callof Duty franchiseBlack Ops 6, but the way it can beplayed could change the way new titles are released.

Set for an October release, the game will be availablestraight away for Game Pass subscribers, meaningthat a monthly subscription, rather than an upfrontchunk of money, will be needed to access to game.

The tech giant has previously made games available toGame Pass subscribers on launch day - such as2023's much-anticipated Starfield - but has never doneso with a release anywhere near as significant as Call of Duty.

And, given that Call of Duty is played by 25 millionplayers a month and has topped 425m lifetime sales, ithas the potential to change the way that games are released.
