John - Chapter 16 Summary:

John chapter 16 features Jesus continuing to prepare His disciples for His imminent departure, emphasizing the role of the Holy Spirit and the trials they will face. Jesus explains that it is for their benefit that He goes away because the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, will come to guide them into all truth, convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and glorify Him by revealing His teachings. Jesus also warns the disciples of impending persecution, assuring them that although they will grieve, their sorrow will turn to joy, just as a woman experiences pain in childbirth but rejoices once her child is born. He encourages them to ask the Father for anything in His name, promising that their prayers will be answered and their joy will be complete. The chapter concludes with Jesus affirming His victory over the world, offering His disciples peace and the assurance that despite the tribulations they will face, He has overcome the world.
