Edinburgh Video Creator's first video ever. Produced in 2004 when I first began what would become a life long interest as a video creator and filmmaker. Filmed on location on top of the National Museum of Scotland looking across to Edinburgh Castle. Filmed using a Sony Cybershot P73 camera.

💡 Question of the Day:
What was the first video you ever created as a Youtube video creator? I would love to hear what got you first into creating video content.

I first got interested in being a video creator back in Portobello High School where I'd taken media studies and fell in love with whole filmmaking process. I was fortunate to get involved with events such as Edinburgh's Festivals including the Film Festival which sparked my interest even more. I joined Scotland's oldest cine society, Edinburgh Cine and Video Society and got involved with a large number of video projects filming across Scotland getting the chance to screen them at weekly club nights.

At the same time I undertook a film, tv and video course at college and also was gifted a Hi8 camcorder by a member of ECVS. I remember the summer of 2007 being action packed where I filmed as many events as I could. I setup my first YouTube channel in 2007 though it's been through some changes throughout the years and feel as passionate as I did back when I started making stuff!

Highlights over the years include working with the RNLI in Dunbar, filming Edinburgh's Festival Cavalcade and setting up my own self employed business to name just a few. One of the most enjoyable aspects of being a filmmaker is meeting so many amazing people from different backgrounds, so much variety which means there is always something unique around every corner.

Edinburgh Castle is a famous fortress which can be observed from most locations within different parts of the City of Edinburgh. It sits within the centre of Scotland's capital city and is a major tourist attraction managed by Historic Scotland.

It is known to have been occupied by humans as far back as the Iron Age in the second century after death. A Royal has been known to reside there since the reign of David First from the 12th century. From the 17th century it was primarily used as a military barracks.

Edinburgh Castle has been involved in several conficts in Scotland's history including the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century to the Jacobite rising of 1745. It has also gained a reputation of having experienced the highest number of sieges in it's 1100 year history.

It's also widely known as being the backdrop to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo during the annual Edinburgh Festival. Everyday at one oclock a gun is fired which is a time signal. This was established in 1861 as a time signal for ships in the harbour of Leith and the Firth of Forth.

If you are lucky enough to visit the 7th floor you'll find yourself on top of the rooftop terrace which provides incredible panoramic views. This particular spot is special as it's right in the middle of the Old Town where you will be able to see the New Town, the Braid Hills and the Firth of Forth.

If you are interested in visiting any of these tourist attractions you can find out more information here.
