7,000 lightning strikes in Hanoi in three hours

Over 10,000 bolts of lightning struck the Hanoi sky within three hours on Wednesday morning, with 7,000 connecting with the ground, rendering one woman critically injured.
On average, 470 lightning bolts connected with the ground every 10 minutes during the downpours in Hanoi Wednesday morning. The lightning bolts struck most frequently during the 7:40-8:50 a.m. time frame, especially in areas over Thuong Tin, Phu Xuyen, Thanh Oai and Ung Hoa.
Most recently on May 19, over 107,000 lightning bolts were seen over the skies of northern Vietnam plains between 3-6 p.m., with 40,000 of them striking the ground.
